River Kerns is a 21-year-old self-taught artist from Saratoga Springs, NY. He doesn’t remember a time when he was not creating, some of his first memories are asking his mother which one of his favorite cartoons he should draw next

Eventually around 11-13, River started experimenting with acrylic paint and discovered an early love. Now specializing in portraiture, expressionism and custom anything, he uses a variety of materials (acrylic, oil, charcoal, pastel, paper, diamond dust...) to create his “messy,” street and fine art inspired works.

The pieces River creates are meant to push toward the effort of blurring the line between museum-quality artwork and street artists; his inspirations being people such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Virgil Abloh, Louis Carreon, and CBHoyo. As River stated, “There’s something special about mixing the free, almost reckless vibe behind graffiti with the perfection and meaning of a gallery/museum setting. I think that’s a metaphor in itself.” This idea of abstract among perfection is a common theme throughout many of his paintings

Solely through the power of Social Media, the artist has been able to distribute his work through color all over the US and parts of Europe. The goal is to spread positive energy and introduce important cultures/ideas/issues he believes in, through a platform familiar to his peers.
